The artist Christo is in town.

Wow, wow, and wow. Am speechless.

In doing some research about the VI's I found these crime stats that make me what to think about a different place to move. I mean seriously there has been 7 murders so far this year which will break last years record. I know there is a post going back and forth about race and stringing people up. Regardless, these numbers are frickin scary. The island is 73% black and only 10% white and the truth of the matter is the white folks are not originally from there. They, just like me have dreams of tiki bars and beaches. However, most locals (not all) have little education and no money and what better way to get some than rob and kill the folks that do? I mean 10 times the USA's national average of killings is nutso if you add in the fact that there are not that many people there and if most of the killings are black on white and whites are only 10% of the population, you have a VERY REAL chance of getting killed if you are white.

Check out the area code...

No-see-um and the Broncettes missed this gem, but I found it on a travel forum.

Not such a smart idea.

Hello ! My husband and I are planning our first trip to St. John for a 35th
wedding anniversary. We are staying in a villa at Ditleff Point. I am worried
about the ferry ride from St. Thomas to St. John as I get motion sickness

and take Dramaminet to fly. I have heard the ferries referred to as
"Barf Barge"... Is this accurate and will Dramamine work or those Sea Bands ?

Flight schedules are better from Atlanta to St. Crox, but I didn't see where
we could take a ferry from St.Croix to St. John.
Does anyone have any
suggestions about flying in and out of these islands ? Thank!

Today would have been a really good day to stay home.

What a mess. They closed and paved the road in front of E & C this afternoon, but there was no one at the top of Jacob's Ladder to let drivers know not to go down the hill. Not that South Shore Road is a very heavily traveled road. So it was crazy to watch people trying to turn their cars around by Pine Peace Market, just to have to go back up the hill and take the road through Contant. Which is pretty much a single lane road anyway, as shown above. Oh, and not a cop in sight. And yes, that trailer did make it to The Westin. How? Me no know.

So I filled out a survey at Motor Vehicles, but was too chicken shit to submit it. So, instead, I'll post it.

Question A-3:
What do you think the chances are of someone getting arrested if they drive after drinking?
My answer:
Rarely.
Question B-3:
What do you think the chances are of getting a ticket if you don't wear your safety belt?
My answer:
Always.

I had one of those fake 1,000,000 novelty bills, gave it to a lady @ Price smart for a slice of pizza & a Coke.
She stared at it intently, & said"Dats' a dowsand dowllers, me can't make change fer dat"!

I told her it is actually a million, & if she gave me another slice of pizza, she could keep the change!
Her mouth dropped as she held & stared at it.
Finally, I told her the truth that it was fake...
She said "you can get in trobble fo dat"!

Most awesome reply, although I wouldn't have been so gentle:

And if she had gone in the back and called the police you would have to explain to a VIPD officer that you were only kidding about counterfeit currency - good luck then!

Thanks, Brocette, you've redeemed yourself. Although a shot of the pole crashing down would have filled my black heart with joy.

Now you see it...

And now you don't:
At first I laughed that the WAPA workers made time-and-a-half on a holiday to take the pole down today, but then I realized what a brilliant idea it was to do it while school was closed, since the school bus uses the round-about to discharge students in the afternoon. I can't believe I am actually praising WAPA. I must be losing what's left of my mind.

Close, but no cigar.

The Arawak people (from aru, the Lucayan word for cassava flour) are some of the indigenous peoples of the West Indies. The group belongs to the Arawakan language family. They were the natives whom Christopher Columbus encountered when he first landed in the Americas in 1492. The Spanish described them as a peaceful primitive people.[1]

Please. Get out of the road, and put some pants on.

And, shame on this taxi driver who stopped in the road and was too lazy to pull over and use the three empty parking spaces on his left side. And we all waited for the driver to make change and find out where his next passengers were going. While I beat my head into a bloody pulp on my steering wheel.
