Now what happens when we run out of rental vehicles on St. John?

OK, I suck at posting this, but this letter states that not only is the rental vehicle tax increasing to $3.75 per day, but the minimum fine for any vehicle being barged off the island it is licensed on is $1,000 and the possible loss of the agency's business license. I think that there are only about 600 rental vehicles currently allocated on St. John. This is going to get nasty.

Well, hello. Someone told me today that I haven't been posting much, and it's true. So I am posting Gregg Jones' beautiful photos instead.

I could have taken pictures of the teens on Spring break at Maho yesterday, picking up the starfish, and posing with it and kissing it, and keeping it out of the water for way too long. They also chased and touched and scared away the turtles, but since I am not on the Park's paycheck, I kept my big mouth closed. Even Gregg is looking for inspiration when not a whole lot is going on, but I love his photos.

Yes, I am feeling lazy.

And at the mandatory meeting for parents at Joseph Gomez Elementary School, regarding students' misconduct on the school buses...

Sigh...

During the presentation, a heated argument broke out between two parents who were eventually escorted out by school security officers. Spectators and administrators sat dumbfounded as one voiced the irony of seeking to improve children’s behavior as they fought amongst themselves.

This made me laugh.

Update! The shaved ice truck has now moved from blocking the thirty minute parking spaces, to taking one space for himself.

Sorry for the blurry photo; my arms were full holding mail and more damn Innovative phone books. It seems like these phone books will never stop coming. Just look straight ahead, and it's the truck with the two umbrellas on top.

Yup, the owner clucked just like an angry chicken the whole time we were there...

- Angry Nates - Food was good but the owner or manager was so fowl mouthed and loud it wrecked it. Won't go back.

Seriously?

Posted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:42 pm Post subject: Mask For Sale
XXXX bought a new mask to use this year and it doesn't fit. It apparently fits very well on dry land. When diving, it leaks around the skirt in several places. Even at depth, it does not make a seal for some reason. It is a blue Tusa Visulator. It is still in the box with the $70.00 price tag on it.

PM me and make an offer.

Thanks

I'm not trying to be disrespectful but it sounds you're trying to sell a mask that is defective and leaks water.

No, you cannot sleep in the airport. This is not "The Amazing Race."

As some of you read, we are flying into San Juan at midnight the night beofre our 8:30 am flight to St. Thomas. I was going to book a room at the Best Western in SJU but someone suggested possibly sleeping in the terminal since by the time we get our luggage and into our room then get back up to get ready and head back to the terminal we will really only have about 4 hours of sleep. And I can think of a lot better things to do with $200 on STJ than crash in a dingy hotel room at San Juan airport.

So...my question is...after we pick up our bags, what is the best place to set up camp for a few hours of shut eye? I am assuing we can't check our bags that early and hang out at our morning gate. So just anywhere outside of security then? Are there better places than others? I have not yet had the pleaseure/displeasure of experiencing thsi airport but I assume it is relatively large compared to most Caribbean airports. This plan isn't set in stone yet so any input would be helpful.
